In a report, on March 31st, Amnesty international report the
impunity of French cops forces. Homicides, blows, abuses,
ill-treatments, affronts xenophobes …: According to Amnesty, In France
the situation is worst since the last report, which dated from five
years ago.

According to this report, justice is more prompt to
punish outrage to agent that to punish a policeman for acts of
violence. The organization, one on fifteen concrete examples.

Pierre,
on November 27th, 2007, after being hurt by a flashball shoot from a policeman during a demonstration in Nantes, could not used any more his right eye. An
inquiry had opened, and is not finished yet because the procedure is slow.

Salif Kamate, during his expulsion from the territory, was subjected of violences
on May 26th, 2007. In the plane, the policeman accepted to take out
his handcuffs to allow him to take a medicine. After
swallowing it he felt and asked to see a doctor, things which was refused
to him. So he hit the policeman to save himself, but the policeman hit him back
and he was disembarked fainted.

18 march 2008, Salif got 5 months of prison and a fine of 1200€ which was overturned to the policeman as a compensation.

On May 9th,
2007, Philippe was arrested for identity control with several other people who followed a peaceful demonstration. Everyone got picked up to the police station. After waiting 3 hours in a police car, in an oppressive warmth,
they were unloosed (WHAT ?). When they went out the car, ten policemen attacked them and hit them. Philippe had many stitch, specially on the head.

I'm sorry, but I don't have the time to correct the rest tonight, maybe tomorrow afternoon by 5 pm ... If Bird or someone else can finish before, it would be better.

PS : Alexis, I think you try to use words which are too complicated ... Like : "points of suture" ... I didn't even know how to say this before I looked up on wordreference : it's : "stitch" as I wrote in the correction.

GOODNIGHT

Fatima, after protesting against "ill-treatments" (what ?) on one of the evicted person in her plane "was searsh" (?), bar ass (? Do you mean : "main au cul" ?) , by the policemen. The woman
was humiliated.

Abdelhakim Ajimi, "was died" (was killed or died, but not "was died" which means like : "a été mort ?!") over his arrest (? you mean probably, after he got arrested ?). The policeman was arrested "for not assistance to nobody in danger." (OLOLE, that is a really bad french to english translation ! You can say : "failure to render assistance to a person in danger" )

A lot of other evidences, more than scourging, reports those police violences and these impartiality of justice. International Amnesty
offers the installation of an Independent organism made to responsible for investigating complaints against policemen.

In Corsica, a demonstration was organized on Tuesday to report the police violences which had plunged a 15-year-old boy, some days ago, into the coma (after a shooting of grenade tear-gas which smashed him on the head). However, demonstration degenerated, result some injured for demonstrator’s men and ten injured men (among whom two gravely hurting) for policemen. (this paragraph is perfect !)

In London, a demonstrator died during anti-capitalist demonstration on the eve of the G20's summit. In party, the police had charged several hundred of demonstrators in front of the bank of England... The Guardian , which obtained video footage of the incident, has gathered statements from 15 witnesses who saw Ian Tomlinson before he collapsed. It says their stories contradict the official version given by police.

To conclude, we shall say that the police violence, in France, is in
constant increase. Perhaps because of the quotas fixed by the government but also because of the impartiality of French justice ... It is almost impossible, today, to condemn a policeman in France! He can therefore employ acts of violence if he wants to. A situation which is according to us, the students in history have always been worried about this and that's necessary to change as fast as possible! For this, we invite you to sign the petition of Amnesty International which claims for the creation of an independent organism to investigate police violences, which you could find on their website. (http://www.amnesty.fr/_info/rapport_france/)

And we suggest you to watch “Battle in Seattle”, a film about
demonstrations and police [b]violences.

Here you are ! I did it as fast as I could, this correction is maybe not perfect, but I think I corrected the most of your work.

Don't really pay attention to the colors, sometimes I corrected you without writing in red ...

Re: need help to translate as fast as possible

Message par Alexis le Sam 11 Avr 2009, 04:29

Very good Smile
But, i have many problems of pronunciation (notably the ending of words with "ed").

Now, i have to write a report of my work :
Can you correct me ?

REPORT

At first I would
talk about an article: “Cyclists assume a New York state of mind” appeared in
“Vocable 551”. In a second part, I would talk about a film “Big Fish” by Tim
burton. In a third part, I would talk about an example of BBC news watched at
television. And to finish, I would talk about a short story “The queen of
death” by John Milae that I read and listened.

I)
Cyclists assume a New York state of mind.

I choose
this Article because I like cruise by bike, I use my bike for all my displacements
notably in town (go to the faculty or go to the work every week-ends) and also
I use my bike in my trips (notably, I will going to Rotterdam, this summer, by
bike).

This is an
article of the review Vocable (551). This review is good for learn English,
easy to read, articles have translations for difficult words. So it’s a good
review for a beginner, like me!

This
article was written on June 25th, 2008, but it’s not a date relevant. He has an
introduction, and eighteen paragraphs. We can cut this article on four parts:

Part
one: Bike friendly at last (paragraphs 4
to 6).

Part two: A
growing awareness (paragraphs 7 to 10).

Part Three:
Anarchy? (Paragraphs 11 to 14).

Part four:
Times are changing (paragraphs 15 to 18).

The
journalist, in this article, says it’s difficult for bikers in a big town:
because it’s very dangerous because the cars-drivers are a big danger (notably
when they opened their door), the bikers are very vulnerable in the circulation
… In New-York; we can see a lot of bikers (like very famous bike messengers),
more and more people use the bike in New-York for their displacements: the bike
is quick, ecologic and inexpensive. Before, the circulation at bike in New York
was very dangerous, but the times are changed when bikers organized a lot of
big demonstrations against the danger in town. Now, the cars-drivers are more
careful and the town is more safety.

This
Article is very interesting because we can see another way of life. This new
way arrived in France notably in Paris where bikers are more and more. In
Tours, it’s very easy to ride in the town and we have not really same problems
like New York or Paris but the danger is present (Too many car-drivers are
aggressive in the town so they are not attentive: it’s difficult sometimes for
bikers, like me).

Thanks "my face" (lol). Now i must go to work ! Youhouuuu it's 5:30AM ! AND I AM TIRED LOLILOL !

Firstly, I'm going to talk (why did you use the conditional here ?) about an article : “Cyclists assume a New York state of mind” appeared in “Vocable 551”. In a second part, I'm going to talk about a film called : “Big Fish” directed by Tim burton. In a third part, I'm going to talk about an example from BBC news (you don't have to specify : "watched on TV"). And to finish, I'm going to talk about a short story called : “The queen of death” by John Milae that I read and listened to.

I) Cyclists assume a New York state of mind.

I chose (choose/chose/chosen) this article because I like traveling by bike, I use my bike everytime I move. Specially when I'm in the city center (I go to the university or to work every weekend) and I use my bike during my trips as well. (for example, I'm going to go to Rotterdam, this summer, by bike)

This is an article from a review of Vocable (551). This review is good to learn English. It's easy to read and articles have translations for difficult words. So it’s a good documentation to help a beginner, like me !
